Digital Sales Coordinator - Digital Publisher

Working closely with both Sales and Operations Teams to ensure the successful delivery of advertising campaigns, a Sales Coordinator plays a pivotal role in helping generate advertising revenue through the sale of digital media space.

Although not always client facing, this type of position offers an opportunity to utilise your existing administration and communication skills whilst continuing to learn and develop your knowledge of digital media.

The work is varied and challenging and you must enjoy and thrive in a busy, deadline driven environment. Companies such as ninemsn; Yahoo!7, News Digital and Fairfax make their revenue as a result of their online advertising offerings and there is HUGE career potential for people who are interested in working in this area. After 1 to 2 years you could be earning between $50 and $90k.

Typical Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Providing sales support to the team including compiling sales figures, running campaign reports and competitor analysis;
  • Developing a thorough, commercial understanding of all products and services your company offers;
  • Helping respond to client briefs and preparing sales presentations offering accurate and creative campaign solutions;
  • Liaising with Clients and the Operations teams to ensure campaigns meet all deadlines and criteria;
  • Chasing creative copy from Agencies;
  • Providing feedback to Clients on campaign results;

Skills & Character Traits Required:

  • Excellent organisational and IT skills including Excel and Powerpoint;

Digital Media Executive – Digital Agency

Primarily supporting a team of Media Planners this is an entry-level role where you will be working across a portfolio of clients, assisting your colleagues to ensure clients’ digital media objectives are met whilst helping deliver innovative, accurate and timely campaigns. It is here where you will really cut your teeth and your learning of the digital media industry will continue to increase on a daily basis.

You should expect to remain in this position for up to 2 years before you are ready to step up to a Digital Account Planner or Account Manager, giving you greater responsibility for clients and strategic decision making.

Typical Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Uploading campaigns using ad-serving technology;
  • Reconciling media budgets and evaluating media proposals;
  • Using market research tools to help determine and plan a digital media campaign.
  • Developing relationships with digital publishers to keep updated with latest trends and opportunities for clients;
  • Ensuring accurate delivery of advertising campaigns;
  • Collating competitive market information and updates;
  • Monitoring and reporting on digital campaigns;
  • Liaising with clients and creative agencies;

Skills & Character Traits Required:

  • Intermediate to Advanced level in Excel and Powerpoint;
  • Passion for online advertising;
  • Technical skills are helpful but not essential to give you a head start in this role;
  • Extreme attention to detail;

Digital Campaign Executive – Advertising Operations team, Digital Publisher or Digital Agency

There are several different job titles that apply to this crucial function including Operations Executive, Campaign Manager or Trafficker. These roles exist both in digital publishers and agencies.

The purpose of a Campaign Executive is to manage the implementation of digital campaigns through a strong knowledge of digital advertising formats and methods.

The role involves liaising with clients, creative agencies and sales people to ensure that expectations are managed and met throughout the campaign process.

This function is responsible for delivering revenue retention and generation through managing all advertising campaigns running using ad serving technology – this helps controls the campaigns ensuring accurate and timely posting, monitoring and optimising to maximise performance.

Typical Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Managing advertising inventory availability to ensure timely campaign bookings of confirmed client campaigns;
  • Helping resolve any issues with creative formats and ensure correct implementation is delivered in time for campaign to go live;
  • Provide analysis on campaign performance including report progress to Sales team;
  • Provide a high-level of service to clients and Sales staff to ensure client issues and enquiries are managed quickly and to the satisfaction of the client.

Skills & Character Traits Required:

  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues;
  • General understanding of online advertising processes;
  • Good problem-solving, negotiating and organisation skills;
  • Ability to multi-task and work effectively under pressure;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent computer skills and highly competent in Microsoft Excel is a must;
  • Prior knowledge of HTML, Photoshop and JavaScript is an advantage;
  • Excellent customer service skills.

Career paths in Campaign Management/Operations can progress onto more senior team manager positions in the future. Some people choose to develop their campaign management career into client facing sales positions due to them gaining a great insight into online advertising and experience through working with Clients and the Sales team.

Search Engine Marketing Coordinator – Digital Agency

Search Engine Marketing is one of the fastest growing areas in the online advertising industry and provides an invaluable advertising channel for companies.

Digital Cadet trains all students in SEM who will also sit the Google Advertising Professional exam to enable you to become Google Adwords Qualified - this can increase your chances of employment should you decide to work in this expanding sector.

A Search Marketing Coordinator is responsible for coordinating Search Marketing activities for specific clients. Working across many different verticals you will usually report directly to the Search Manager and will assist them in the planning, buying and strategic direction of all Search Engine Marketing activity.

Typical Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ongoing daily monitoring of client accounts, including budgets, bids, average position and performance;
  • Analysing the performance of all aspects of client accounts and make recommendations on ways to improve, including keywords, ad copy, landing pages and account structure;
  • Assisting with preparing weekly reports for clients and the set-up and launch of new clients campaigns;
  • Conducting regular market research to identify potential gaps in which to expand advertising reach;
  • Monitor use of client trademarks, plus competitive analysis and seasonal promotions;
  • Regularly ensuring all systems are tracking data correctly and rectifying any discrepancies immediately.

Skills & Knowledge Required:

  • Strong mathematical skills;
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on “thinking outside the box”;
  • Clear communication and presentation skills;
  • Intermediate knowledge of Excel to formulate reports and present data in a clear and effective manner;
  • Good working knowledge of all other Microsoft applications;
  • Google AdWords Professional (GAP) qualified advantageous.
